Game Sandwich
On April 20, 2023, I became one of the co-founders of Game Sandwich, a game journalism site focused on making a new kind of community for gamers. Instead of the streamlined, corporate drudges of what gaming journalism has become, we aspire to create a personal, communal space for gamers to enjoy being gamers. We’ll write guides and news, but we’ll also highlight fan artists, fan creations, indie games, and the joys of being apart of the gaming community.
With Game Sandwich, I worked as social media manager and writer.
Social Media Management:
Features:
Growing up Gerudo– Highlighting one of the best comics in the Legend of Zelda fandom

Star Trek
I have published three different articles on Star Trek’s official site: “Star Trek’s Queer Fluidity is Giving Fans the Brighter Future They Deserve”, “The Ballad of Lon Suder | Star Trek Tackles Mental Illness“, “Nog and the Post-Traumatic Progress of Star Trek Characters“, and What The Mariner-Freeman Family says about Starfleet and the Star Trek Community. The former describes the influence Star Trek has had on representing gender and sexual fluidity before the series was more open with its support of the queer community. From Garak’s omni-sexual nature to Spirk itself, my piece will be connecting all those fandom moments that make Trek feel so acceptingly queer. The middle is a personal essay about connecting my own journey with bipolar disorder to one of Star Trek Voyager’s surprisingly humanizing depictions of mental illness. Finally, and most recently, I discussed how revolutionary Nog’s depiction of PTSD was for representation and the way Star Trek handles the emotional trauma of its own characters.

Gamepur
With Gamepur, I wrote features, reviews, news, and game guides on the hottest new games (and sometimes just some fun old classics). This is where I really built my beat, from the Diablo franchise to The Sims 4, Teamfight Tactics to indie hits.
Some of my work with Gamepur includes:
Features:
Hogwarts Legacy’s biggest problem isn’t just its story — it’s the author who lives
Dead by Daylight’s scariest killers, ranked from Halloween Queen to Halloweenie
Reviews:
Blanc is possibly the most wholesome game of the year so far – Review
News:
The Sims 4 designer defends having no sequoias in Growing Together’s San Sequoia in a jokey rant
Kerbal Space Program 2 crash lands on launch because of poor performance issues
Guides:
All Diablo 4 Classes and how they work
Who is Lorath Nahr in Diablo IV? Explained

Valorbuff
In my work with ValorBuff, I was contracted to write guides, breaking news, and other coverage content on the multiplayer game. For example, I covered the breaking news on Riot’s 12th agent, Killjoy, and wrote guides on dealing with popular (but abusive) weapons.
The goal of ValorBuff was to help gamers do their best while playing the game and keep track of all character stats throughout each new patch and update.
Some of my work included:
BREACH: A GUIDE TO VALORANT’S BARRIER-COUNTERING INITIATOR

TrackLol
When ELO Entertainment was running their League of Legends eSports analytics site, I wrote data-inspired essays on eSports gameplay, eSports events, and more. One of my most surprising and rewarding work was following PSG Talon during their surprisingly victorious run in the 2021 Worlds Rumble.
While the site is no longer up, I still have the drafts of a few pieces, like this analysis of how professional players create rhythm in their early gameplay:

The Mary Sue
From video games to giant science fiction franchises, The Mary Sue was a perfect place for speculative essays on everything from Undertale to the age-old Star Wars/Star Trek debate. There’s nothing better than some well-researched hot takes to get people talking.
Some of my work includes:
Star Trek: Prodigy Is Doing What the Franchise Should’ve Done Long Ago: Showcase Its Aliens
Undertale, Overwatch, and Fandom Hell
Star Trek Is Boldly Going Where Star Wars Won’t Dare
